Treetop Laboratory Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 5, 2026
Treetop Laboratory respects the privacy of the children, parents, guardians, educators, customers, and other visitors who use TreetopLaboratory.com. Because our educational content is created in part for children, we take children’s privacy especially seriously.
This policy explains the information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to parents, guardians, and other visitors.
Children’s Privacy
Children do not need to create an account or provide personal information to enjoy the educational content on TreetopLaboratory.com.
We ask children not to provide their last name, home address, school, telephone number, personal email address, or other identifying information through the website. Our online store and purchasing functions are intended for adults.
TreeMail
TreeMail allows children to share a question, idea, observation, or message with Kate and Treetop Laboratory with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
TreeMail asks for a child’s first name and message and a parent or guardian’s email address. A parent or guardian should assist with or review the message before it is submitted. The email address provided must belong to the parent or guardian, not the child.
Treetop Laboratory may reply to the parent or guardian’s email address so the adult can decide whether and how to share the response with the child.
TreeMail submissions may be maintained in our website and business email systems and are accessible only to authorized Treetop Laboratory personnel. We do not currently publish TreeMail submissions, children’s comments, artwork, photographs, or other child submissions on the website.
Information We Collect and Why
When an adult purchases a product, we may collect a name, email address, telephone number, billing and shipping addresses, products ordered, and other information necessary to process and fulfill the order, provide customer service, and maintain appropriate business records.
Our store uses WooCommerce, and payments are processed by Stripe. Payment information is provided to Stripe as necessary to complete a transaction.
Like most websites, our hosting and website systems may also process technical information such as an IP address, browser or device information, pages requested, referring source, and date and time of access. We use this information to operate, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the website.
WooCommerce uses cookies necessary for functions such as shopping carts and customer sessions. It also uses session-based order attribution that can tell us how a customer found our store. If a visitor places an order, limited attribution information may be saved with that order.
We do not currently use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, behavioral advertising, remarketing, or personalized advertising on TreetopLaboratory.com.
How We Use and Share Information
We use information collected through the website to operate and secure TreetopLaboratory.com, respond to communications and TreeMail, process and fulfill orders, provide customer service, understand how customers find our store, maintain appropriate business records, and comply with legal obligations.
We use service providers to operate our website and business, including Bluehost for website hosting, WordPress and WooCommerce for website and ecommerce functions, Stripe for payment processing, and Zoho for business email.
Information may be provided to these or other service providers when reasonably necessary to operate the website, process payments, fulfill orders, provide communications, protect the website from misuse, or comply with legal requirements.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use children’s personal information for personalized advertising or behavioral marketing.
Data Retention and Security
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected or to meet legitimate business, accounting, tax, legal, security, or customer-service requirements.
TreeMail and other communications may be retained in our website or business email systems as reasonably necessary to respond and maintain appropriate business records.
We use reasonable measures intended to protect information in our possession. However, no website, internet transmission, or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Parents and Guardians
Parents and guardians may contact us to ask about, review, or request deletion of personal information relating to their child that Treetop Laboratory maintains, subject to information we may be legally required or permitted to retain.
We may take reasonable steps to verify the identity and authority of the person making the request.
Other Websites and Changes to This Policy
TreetopLaboratory.com may contain links to websites operated by others. Treetop Laboratory is not responsible for the privacy practices of websites we do not operate, and parents and guardians should review those sites’ privacy practices before allowing children to provide information to them.
As Treetop Laboratory grows, we may introduce new features or technologies. If our information practices materially change, we will review our privacy practices and update this policy. The current effective date will always appear at the top of this page.
